MASS & GALA DINNER Sat 18 October 2008

The Association will celebrate its centenary in October 2008 and as part of this celebration there will be a Mass in York Minster.

Please note:  applications for tickets for the Mass and/or Dinner should be done through Circle Secretaries rather than by individual requests.

The Mass will be concelebrated by the Rt Rev Terence Patrick Drainey, Bishop of Middlesbrough Diocese and His Eminence Keith Patrick Cardinal O'Brien.

Entry to the Minster will be by ticket only.  Circle Secretaries are invited to submit their  Circle bids for tickets into the Minster, in writing please, by 30 April 2008 to Br J Fletcher of York Circle (see directory for details).

Individual requests for tickets should not be submitted.

Circle Secretaries should submit summary lists of the names of Circle members and guests attending.  Cheques based on £35 per person are now being accepted, ahead of the deadline of 1st May 2008 (payable to 'Catenian Association').

A 10% discount on accommodation is available through Superbreaks (0870 234 9999 quote 'CATHO') and extends to rail travel with accommodation, subject to conditions.

Friday 17 October 2008  The dining room in the Beechwood Close Hotel has been booked for a dinner for those staying at the Bar Convent (Clergy), Bro David Taylor and Kathleen, the Brothers and wives staying in the Beechwood Close Hotel and the Brothers and wives of York Circle.  This is an opportunity to meet the clergy and celebrate the vigil in an informal way.  Full details will be notified later.

a.  Mass:  A Mass will be celebrated in YORK MINSTER at 11am. (Limit of 2500 places)

b.  Lunch:  A light lunch will be served in either St William’s College or the Merchant Taylors’ Hall for the concelebrating clergy, Bro David Taylor and Kathleen, the Dean and Chapter and the Mayoral party.  Any remaining places will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  A charge will be made for these remaining places.

c.  Gala Dinner:  There will be a Gala Dinner at York Racecourse (Voltigeur Suite) in the presence of the senior clergy and Bro Grand President and his wife. (~ £35pp payment by April 2008)  Full details will be notified later.

The venue for the Dinner is the superb Voligeur Hospitality Suite at York Racecourse.  Extensive Bars are available on site.  A selection of table wines to accompany the four-course dinner is possible in advance or on the night.
